KL-900D Fibre Optic Training System

In 1870, before the sceptical British Royal Society, Irish researcher John Tyndall successfully demonstrated how light could be guided in a stream of falling water. It was the first recorded observation of light being guided by "total internal reflection", and it still is a visually fascinating experiment today. The evolution of Fiber Optics from the 19th century to the present is a fascinating story of scientific development and perseverance. The KL900D is for those who want to learn about optical fibre, and its revolutionary usage of enabling high bandwidth in narrow plastic fibres that would have previously used 1000s of bulky and expensive copper cables.

Fiber optic communication is one of the most popular technologies in the modern days due to its high transfer capacity and quality, as well as speed and security. KL-900D uses fiber optic as a trans-mission media for the whole experiment. With four different data transmission ways (self module transmission, module-to-module transmission, PC-to-module transmission, and module-to-PC transmissions) and various different modulation/demodulation methods (CVSD, FSK, etc) introduced in the training system, users can obtain a very clear view of how fiber-optic transmission works.

The system has 15 experiments, listed below, from simple optical characteristic experiments to sophisticated optical fibre digital data transmission using ASK  (Amplitude Shift modulation & demodulation Keying).
